There are many varieties of Study Bibles available for the diligent Bible reader. If you are a Spurgeon fan and really value his insights into the Word through his sermons, this is a great Study Bible to choose. There are tons of features in these SB’s related to Spurgeon’s writings and sermons.
Selected and edited by Alistair Begg, the notes that line the text are excerpts from Spurgeon’s sermons. There are also scanned notes and outlines from his own handwriting dispersed throughout the Bible. There are many other features that make this a fantastic SB. Though I prefer to not use them in my personal Bible reading, if you enjoy Study Bibles and value church history and historical preaching, these SB’s are a great resource to have. One of my favorite practical features is the large 10.75 type size that makes it easy to read. It seems as each year goes by I really appreciate larger and larger Bible fonts 🙂 .
The Christian Standard Bible has been my daily translation for a while now and I find it especially engaging paired with Spurgeon’s writings. It must be said that it is easy to interact with Spurgeon more than God Himself through His Word, but if you are diligent and mindful of this potential pitfall, there truly is much to gain from this Study Bible.
For any Spurgeon fan, it deserves a place on the shelf and in the heart and mind.
