The Psalms have historically been the most popular of the biblical books for many reasons. We see pure and raw emotion, worship, honest questions, and most of all praise to the One who deserves it all. These two volumes of prayers inspired by the Psalms are such great tools to use to rediscover these songs to our Lord. Smith and Wilt have written free-verse prayer renderings of each Psalm in these two volumes, drawing the reader into further meditation on the goodness, grace, and wonder of God.

What I love most about these books is their devotional nature. One prayer for each psalm makes it easy for the reader to slowly and meditatively read each Psalm alongside the prayer. They also aid in understanding the relevance of each Psalm to our daily lives. I see these being great resources to study through, or even use in a community, church, or group setting.

If you love the Psalms, which you should!!!, consider grabbing a copy of these volumes. They will serve in growing your awe and wonder of who God is and how He relates to us in every moment of our lives: the good, the bad, and the ugly. He provides Sheltering Mercy and Endless Grace in abundance and the Psalms are an expression and a proclamation of this reality.
